Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law

    What it does:   HBCFL provides legal services for dissolution                             of marriage and paternity cases to the                                         financially distressed segment of our LA                                         population, as to preparation of all pleadings                                 from initiation of a case through judgment,                                     where the clients go to court on their own. In                                 addition, the Center also provides pro bono                                 services to clients whose cases may be more                                 complex or have the possibility of fee recovery                             through an asset. The Center advocates                                     strongly for child support laws and collection,                                 provides education to incarcerated women re                                 child custody and support issues. There are                                 varied opportunities for involvement at the                                     Center.

Fifty-Fifty Leadership

    You can do:    Mentoring for participants in Leadership Circles,                            event coordination and staffing of tables, phone                            calls to members, PR, fund-raising and more.

Law Guild of Beverly Hills

    What it does:   A non-profit organization dedicated to                                             promoting awarenss of the law throughout our                             community.  We offer financial support to                                     organizations that keep children off the street                                 and offers them shelter.  Through our efforts,                                 over 400,000 students from the greater L.A.                                 Metropolitan area have toured the Beverly Hills                             Superior Courthouse and have been given the                             opportunity to learn how and why the law is                                 designed for their benefit.
                            Law Guild founded and worked in the                                             Victim/Witness Assistance Program. Also, we                                 provide help with scholarships for needy law                                 students.  We are currently providing financial                             support to Penny Lane, a home for abused and                             homeless children. This organization offers                                 shelter, emotional support and activities that                                 gives them the tools to adapt to our society.

This is dear to my                                heart for there is an honorary award in my                                    mother's name each year for her 20 years of                                service with Law Guild.
